Intro to Qatar

Qatar is a peninsula located halfway down on the east coast of the Arabian peninsula. The country is flat with stone and sand desert. 

Qatar has in a relatively few years transformed from a desert society based on a Bedouin tradition, fishermen and pearl diving into one of the richest and fastest growing countries in the world. The wealth is due to the huge oil and gas reserves and the welcoming of Western investments and expert assistance within the oil and gas industry, construction and education. 

The stability, growth and the many initiatives on education, culture, sports and health can be attributed to the former Emir His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani. One of his wives, Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Al Missned is a very progressive lady with great influence on the development of the country. She is incredibly popular and active in Qatar and around the world.
