About the Book

My book is based on interviews and conversations supplemented with my own experiences and thoughts. I have lived in Doha, the capital of Qatar, for eight years as a spouse. 

How is every-day-life for the people of Qatar?

I have been interviewing people, who I know, people with whom I have been building mutual respect. People I have met several times, who recognize me and who trust me.

It has been a nice challenge and very interesting work, and I see it as a great privilege to have both the time and the possibility to try doing something so different from what I have been doing previously in my life. 

There are still so many things I don’t know about the country I lived in and about the people I lived among. But all the stories, I received during the work with this book, have affected me deeply, and they have put my own life in perspective. Every single interview has been overwhelming in its own way. It has been very rewarding and interesting work for me to dig a little deeper in people’s cultural and personal background and to gain insight in life stories from parts of the world where I have never been, and that I knew only very little about from the beginning.
